START UP FUNDING: Blingstar is a jewellery design and manufacturing business which has been set up by young entrepreneur Faye Harrison.
Faye had a keen interest in fashion trends but often struggled to find the right accessories to match her outfit.
She began to make her own pieces and friends also started to ask for her designs.
When she was made redundant from her job, Faye siezed the opportunity and set up Blingstar.
The InvestmentInitially Faye used social media to promote her products and also persuaded celebrities from programmes such as Desperate Scousewives and THe Only Way Is Essex to wear her designs. To take the business further she needed premises to combine as a shop and workspace.
MSIF provided a £2.5k start up loan which enabled Faye to open her own shop.
The OutcomeBlingstar now has a huge social media following - 12,000 on Facebook, 4,000 on Twitter and 2,000 on Instagram; including fashion bloggers and celebrities.
The business has received interest from stylists at the X-Factor and has customers in Australia, USA, Germany, Jersey and Ireland.
Faye said: "I'd managed to raise some of the money I needed but didn't have the full amount. With no business track record it would have been extremely difficult for me to get finance from a bank."
"The funding from MSIF has helped me realise a dream of running my own business and lots of growth opportunities."
