SPONSORS ![]() BBC Radio Merseyside Broadcasting history on Merseyside goes as far back as 1924 when Liverpool was chosen to be the fourth of a network of relay stations created by the BBC called 6LV. This station was short-lived and transmissions came to an end in 1931 when a shortage of wavelengths forced re-organisation of radio along regional lines. But on 22nd November 1967 a specially composed jingle by Gerry Marsden announced the arrival of BBC Radio Merseyside the countrys third and largest local radio station. Over the years Radio Merseyside has rejected the areas many triumphs and tragedies, from sporting successes to the Papal tour of 1982. The station is particularly proud of the reputation and rapport it enjoys with the local community, and the service it has provided at times of crisis. BBC Radio Merseyside is firrmly committed to the Family Business Awards and is regularly broadcasting stories, news and features on family business stories in the months leading up to the gala dinner in October.
