MSIF Liverpool Seed Fund - What we look for
The Liverpool Seed Fund invests in ideas, concepts, Intellectual Property, technology and innovations that show genuine commercial potential but need finance and support to develop further. If an idea is very early stage it will need funding to test whether or not it works (proof of concept funding).
If the concept is proven to work but needs capital to enable it to get to market this is called commercialisation funding. We can also provide first round venture capital funding when the business is ready to start trading commercially and we are satisfied that there is a quality management team in place, the idea or product is technically sound and there is a proven demand for it which can be translated into sales and profits.
The amounts available for the different stages of funding are as follows:-
- Proof of Concept: £50,000 - £100,000
- Commercialisation: up to £350,000
- First Round Venture Capital: up to £750,000
We receive applications from all sorts of organisations and individuals including academics, entrepreneurs and people working in industry. You must be based in, or prepared to relocate to Merseyside but there are very few restrictions on sectors. Through Liverpool Ventures you benefit from ongoing support and practical help on a wide range of issues such as legal advice, property, financial and management.
