John is a skilled financial analyst, capable of quickly understanding how a business works and what can be done to improve it. Highly numerate and commercially astute, he can communicate well at all levels of the business.

He has a hands-on approach that lends itself equally well to corporate rescue and profit improvement in successful businesses. He is a skilled negotiator, whether working with administrators, suppliers or employee representatives.

He has worked with companies going through rapid change, including Weatherseal (from £4m p.a. to £65 p.a. in 7 years) and Eurocall (£20m p.a. to £50m p.a. in 12 months). He has experience of company recovery strategies.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Work completed includes the Weatherseal purchase of the Everest companies from Caradon in March 1999. He compiled the bid document and worked with teams from Barclays and RBS and the mezzanine finance house to ensure Weatherseal could support the deal.

He personally carried out due diligence on the Caradon sale document, identifying immediate improvements in operations which resulted in a business with turnover of £100m but just £1m profit, moving to £105m and £5m profit in the first year of trading after purchase.

As a consultant John has carried out numerous assignments on strategy and implementation, design and developments of new services, post merger and realignment. Specific areas of expertise include establishing KPI reporting structures to identify areas of the businesses that require attention and setting up management teams to improve the performance of their businesses.

In 1997 he led Weatherseal refinancing by 3i, resulting in 20% purchase of shares by VC.
