New Managing Director at Liverpool Ventures

Liverpool Ventures provides specialist support services to businesses applying to and backed by, the £27m Liverpool Seed Fund, an MSIF Fund.

Malcolm Stewart, 45, joins the Liverpool Ventures team from the global biotechnology company Avecia, where he had ran a number of technology based, early stage business units based in Europe and the USA.

His career spans more than 20 years directing and delivering strategy and business performance. He has worked internationally in advanced materials, speciality chemicals and biotechnology.

Malcolm has served on the board of a number spin out companies in the USA and Germany, working with them from start up through to investor exit.

His strengths include experience of leadership of innovation based, technology businesses; contract negotiation; IP licensing; joint development agreements; mergers and acquisitions and growing technology businesses into successful enterprises.

Malcolm said: “I am delighted to be joining Liverpool Ventures. The team performs a crucial role in providing high quality expertise to develop early stage businesses, technology, inventions and IP propositions. I am looking forward to working closely with the Liverpool Seed Fund to help harness the potential in these businesses and turn them into a commercial reality.”
