MSIF Backing Supports Expansion of Construction Training Firm
23rd June 2006
A Liverpool based training provider is expanding with backing from Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF).
Mortimore Enterprises Limited was set up five years ago. The company offers training and assessment for new and experienced construction workers, together with a full service where construction workers, and companies alike, can obtain compliance with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme – a scheme that aims to qualify the construction workforce.
Chief Executive Jon Mortimore said: “The £45k investment by MSIF has already played a key role in the recent development of our company. This is proven by the improved range of services offered and the company recently being selected as one of only four providers in the UK preferred (by the Kitchens, Bathrooms & Bedrooms Federation and CITB-ConstructionSkills) to deliver the Fitted Interiors qualification”.
Mortimore’s growing client base already includes CITB-ConstructionSkills, Bellway Homes (West Lancashire), Whites Building Services and Greens Apprentices/Fusion21. The backing has enabled the company to install a new IT suite and recruit additional staff to help expand the training provision. Further plans for expanding the company are also in place.
Later this year, the investment will also help fund the creation of a new construction division. New jobs will be created that will enable Mortimore to additionally offer quality construction services. Local people will be trained by Mortimore to fill these positions.
MSIF Investment Manager Chris Walters said: “Mortimore has already made its mark on the marketplace and the company is run by a dynamic and ambitious team. We are pleased to be supporting them through this growth phase.”
It is expected that the workforce will increase from 16 to 25 over the next year and turnover will reach £1.2m in the next three years.
