Solveo offers an end to IT headaches

12th September 2006

A service designed to cut out IT nightmares is set to expand thanks to backing from Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF).

Solveo Ltd, based in the Cotton Exchange in Liverpool City Centre, is the brainchild of former IT trainer Angela Denny.

She says: “It was frustrating because I would have a classroom full of people from different companies and organisations, and cover a strict menu of topics. I knew that a lot of them would go back to their workplace and find that somehow it just didn’t work in the real world!

“What Solveo does is provide tailor-made IT packages. We see a client, find out what problems they are having, what is slowing them down or decreasing their productivity, and work through it with them. We save clients at least two hours a week by solving their IT problems.

“Everyone – including me – has shouted at their computer and wanted to throw it out of the window at some point or another. What we do is try and provide training about specific problems and issues that the client has highlighted, showing them how to get the best out of their particular system. Our approach is much more targeted to the needs of organisations and individuals.”

Solveo currently has four staff, but Angela hopes to increase that to seven over the next three years.

The turnover, currently £101,000, will increase to £226,000 over the same period.

A £17,000 funding package from MSIF’s Small Firms Fund has enabled the business to invest in marketing, win new clients and look at taking on more staff.

Carol Bolland, investment manager at the Small Firms Fund, said: “We were delighted to support Solveo. The team there have showed since they started in 2000 that they have a sound business idea, and our backing will enable them to grow further.”
