SMALL LOANS

MSIF manages the Merseyside element of the Small Loans for Business Fund on behalf of the NWDA. This Fund provides loans from £3k to £50k businesses, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies which are based in the Merseyside region – Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

This Fund can back a range of propositions including start ups, spin outs, early stage, growth, development capital and expansions.

This Small Loans for Business Fund is managed in MSIF’s capacity as a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI). CDFI’s lend money to businesses, social enterprises and individuals who struggle to get finance from high street banks and loan companies. They help deprived communities by offering loans and support at an affordable rate to people who cannot access credit elsewhere.

Businesses from most sectors (property is excluded) can apply and the Fund has a strong focus on financing businesses with technology and innovations such as those within biotechnology, creative, digital and energy industries. There is also a specific pot to invest in the retail sector. The total amount available for investment is £3.6m which is funded through the European Regional Development Fund and the NWDA.
