Investment & Support for the Liverpool City Region and the North West

  • Experience-centric bridal boutique set for success following startup investment

  • 1

A new and exciting bridal boutique has recently opened its doors in Chester City Centre. My Funny Valentine [MFV] Bridal Ltd  was founded by Hanni Frankland-Roberts, a former Associate Solicitor from Liverpool law-firm Hill Dickinson, who recognised a gap in the market following her own bridal shopping experience in 2018.

From this, Hanni had the idea to launch her own bridalwear shop, one that focussed on a customer-centric experience alongside the need for unique style, design and a competitive price range.

To help bring her idea to fruition, MFV Bridal founder, Hanni, worked closely with Investment Manager, Andy Jones – who was able to deliver a £35,000 Small Business Loan [SBL] alongside Hanni’s own investment and funding from the Start Up Loan Company to help make her dreams become a reality.

COVID-19 restrictions delayed the opening of the business until April 2021, however since the doors opened just over four weeks ago on Northgate Street in Chester, MFV Bridal has made an incredible start with many brides-to-be finding their dream dress, whilst enjoying the unique and special experience offered to MFV Brides.

Moving forward, MFV Bridal looks to continue to create special memories for each bride and their bridal party as the wedding sector continues to reopen over the coming months.

MFV Bridal Ltd founder Hanni commented: “It has been a dream of mine to open MFV Bridal for many years now, and to finally see it become a reality is just such a wonderful feeling. Without the financial support provided by Andy and his team, setting up my own business would not have been possible and having the support of Andy this last year really has been invaluable. I am so grateful for the opportunity that AFM has given me and am really looking forward to meeting and creating special memories for more lovely brides over the next year whilst continuing to grow the business.”

MSIF/AFM Investment Manager, Andy Jones added: “Working with Hanni to realise her dream has been great. Hanni’s drive, ambition and commitment is unquestioned and whilst leaving a legal career to embark on a new venture during the pandemic may be considered a big risk, I am confident she will make the business a success. I look forward to seeing MFV grow under Hanni’s leadership and to also continuing to support her along the way.

The Small Business Loan scheme provides investment of up to £100,000 to small and medium sized businesses across the North West, and we are delighted that the scheme has recently been granted a 3-year extension given the success of the programme to date. I look forward to helping other business owners over this period.”
